Threads of Hope

Mission:  To provide hope and help to children and adults within our community and globally by providing handmade items of clothing and bedding.

We welcome all interested people to join together to help others.

Our Mission (see more on our website):

·        To provide hope, love and assistance to children and adults and animals within our community and globally by providing handmade items of clothing and bedding.

·        To bring people together who want to help others.

·        To share our gifts and talents.

·        To put Action into Reconciliation

·        To creatively repurpose fabric and reduce the impact on landfills.

·        To make a difference in our world!

We meet at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church 690 Munroe Avenue from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on select Saturdays. On occasion, we meet on Tuesdays to tie quilts. Please check our website threadsofhope-stsaviours.ca for the schedule. We are flexible and often volunteers will meet in smaller groups outside of our meeting dates.  As well many volunteers design and sew daily from their homes.  Our projects will vary with hats, mitts and neck warmers; baby blankets and bibs; and animal rescue beds/crate liners being an annual commitment.

We understand that life is busy.  We are a relaxed group - volunteers come when they can and stay for as long as they can.  Our volunteers vary in age from 8 years to 103 years and we embrace diversity.  There are many opportunities to help – you don’t need to know how to sew, however we will provide mentorship if you wish to develop sewing skills.  The projects have various skills levels to keep all engaged.  We give our best to all that we undertake and all talents are welcome and valued.

Threads of Hope is a non-profit organization. We exist through donations of funds and fabric.

We began in the fall of 2017 and have been expanding both in volunteers and groups we assist. In our own community, we have assisted the Children’s Hospital, Neo Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Care; Crisis Pregnancy Center; Mount Carmel’s The Mothering Project, Main Street Project, Selkirk Onashiwin Aboriginal Head Start Program, First Nation Communities, Rotary Club of Winnipeg, Child & Family – Foster Children, Williow Place Women’s Shelter, Manitoba Animal Alliance Rescue and Hull’s Haven Border Collie Rescue, Weston School, St. Amant Centre, Thrive Community Support Circle; Tache, Kin Place and River East Personal Care Homes, and several Ukrainian Communities.  During the pandemic we made thousands of face masks and surgical caps. Globally, we have assisted organizations in Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nigeria, Phillipines and Uganda.

Threads of Hope is so much more than the actual dress or blanket or whatever we are creating…..each item is created with love for its recipient.  We hope that this small act of kindness will give them hope in knowing that others care.  We remain humbly grateful to be able to help others and are so blessed to live in Canada
